At the checkout line, she asked...can that be from me to you? some kids just think of themselves, regardless of how much giving they observe throughout their lives.

Elvis would have bought you the earth if he could!Juicebox.momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12412621435268979016noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7833997899825933536.post-23463516760544275592008-12-28T08:54:00.000-06:002008-12-28T08:54:00.000-06:00I completely feel your pain here. There have been...I completely feel your pain here. There have been years where I have worked myself ragged to put on this awesome Christmas for my dh and 10 kids (6 adopted from the foster care system) and on Christmas morning? - nada. You don't WANT to be disappointed, you WANT to just give and give and be happy that you've made them happy, however, resentment does work its way in when you start thinking about how many hours you've put into making them happy and they can't even get you a damn card or even just make a point to clean up after this huge dinner you did for all of them or anything.... This year my younger kids kept saying, "I can't wait to see what you get me for Christmas!!" After about the 60th time of hearing this, I started responding by clapping my hands together and excitedly saying, "I know, I know and I can't wait to see what YOU get for me!!". Very immature, I know, but I just got alot of blank looks. Three of my older kids have finally caught on to the giving part of it and were very generous (21, 20 and 19) so there's hope. My oldest got me M&M's and a bracelet (probably on the way over to pick up his gifts), but he just married the d-i-l from hell so that explains it a little bit.

I haven't read the books yet - I keep resisting because of all the hoopla with my teenage girls and their friends, but now I'm starting to be swayed by all of the adults I'm hearing about loving them.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14612523674452864077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7833997899825933536.post-89038215899209176462008-12-27T22:09:00.001-06:002008-12-27T22:09:00.001-06:00I thought for sure they'd have something for you w...I thought for sure they'd have something for you when you all got home from Al's.
